posted on msn 09-28-07 "what are pre-schoolers learning now?" pre-schools in california are now teaching spanish to the toddlers of america. let me get this straight. first it becomes a requirement to learn spanish for graduation from high schools, next it is being taught to our grade schoolers. now our youngest generation is having to learn the language? it is not required or a law yet, but give it time, it will be. the latino community protests in california for more rights in america, yet they hold protest signs written in spanish. what's next, selective harvesting of latino dominate ovums? this is america, if you are going to live here as an american with the rights that americans have earned, then speak the language of the americans. it should not be required to learn spanish to be considered for a job, graduate from high school or buy a pop at the local convenience store. the majority of montanans are english speaking, but in time we will be forced to learn spanish in order to complete simple tasks such as grocery shopping or taking our children to the doctor. the latino community is going to move in our direction and WE, the english speaking americans are expected to conform? i don't think so

SJ,
it doesn't hurt our kids to learn another language. In fact it is quite easy for them to do so when they are young. If they learn the language when they are young, they are able to think in the language, rather than have to translate such. I don't think that it has done anything other than broaden opportunities for people to know more than english. I wish I knew another language, but being an old dog, I won't become fluent now. Spanish would probably be more practical with the proximity to mexico, than say French. business wise our kids should learn Chinese, put them in position to compete and succeed in the future business world.

I hardly think the teaching of Spanish to pre schoolers in Prune Land is the real problem!!!!
The real problem is the number of spicks crossing the southern border illegially with the help or total disreguard of the morons in Washington DC whos job it is to protect our borders!!!
Our national language is ENGLISH not spanish as the increasing number of SPICKS in the country would like to have!!!!!!

And don't give me that racial crap about calling the illegials SPICKS when that is a very generous name for the *** holes!!!!!

oh dear, we better build some walls and keep our kids from being polluted with learning a second language. How dear we better their lives from enriching them with the prospects of learning to speak more then one language.

QUICK, SOMEONE CALL PAT BUCHANAN!!!!

Surely you not niave enough to actually believe what you just posted?????
The way the spicks are invading spanish will be needed to just communicate with all these illegals!!!! Seems to me the real issue should be teaching all the little spick bastards that illegally cross our border english. In fact if Dickhead Durbin's latest liberal wet dream becomes law it will become a necessity!!!!!

I agree that we cannot continue to burden our social safety nets with folks that are not citizens of this country, but as far as second languages being taught that shouldn't be a problem. Has there been a huge influx of folks into montana from south of the border?

Yes, not to the degree as is found closer to the border, but more & more of the names I run across in my business are Mexican. Most, I believe, come from the Washington area, but if you watch work crews & different groups, you can see some of them have no English. Mention of a green card or the appearance of an official & the group shrinks.
